- Wilt Chamberlain may have been the
- most dominant offensive center, but Bill
- Russell surely had his number. Bill was
- shorter than Wilt and he didnΓÇÖt score
- nearly as many points, but their teams
- met two times in the NBA Finals, and
- BillΓÇÖs Celtics won both times. The first
- time the two met on the court, in 1959,
- Bill grabbed 35 rebounds. During the
- 1960-61 season, Wilt averaged 50.4
- points per game. But, that season, Bill
- was named the NBAΓÇÖs Most Valuable
- Player. Defense proved more valuable
- than offense.
